Our Farm 

     Schlechter Brothers Country Harvest is owned by brothers, Will & Carl Schlechter. They are 6th generation farmers in Henrietta Township farming 300 acres. They formed their partnership in 2002 selling sweet corn, pumpkins, and cornstalk bundles from a self-serve road side tent. Over the last 24 years, they have worked on expanding their business and today they have a seasonal farm market and have vastly grown their farming operation.

     Will & Carl focus on diverse crops to fill their seasons. In the early spring, they put out 2,800 taps in their woods and neighboring woods to produce pure maple syrup. They make around 600 gallons of maple syrup each year. They also make maple confections such as maple candy, maple cream, maple sugar, and even maple cotton candy. Each year in March they host a pancake breakfast at the farm as a fundraiser for local organizations. They are always ready to support their great community in any way they can.

     In the late spring, after planting soy beans and corn, they make hay. They currently have 150 acres of hayfields and sell hay year-round at the farm market. In the summer, they buy straw out of the fields from neighbors and this summer made 14,000 bales. Carl grows a large garden and 12 acres of sweet corn to supply the seasonal farm market that is open July through October. Schlechter Brothers farm market provides a large variety of fresh vegetables and fruit as well as homegrown pork and beef, fresh eggs, honey, maple syrup, hay & straw, jams & jellies, pickles, sauces, and more.

     Fall is definitely their busiest season. In addition to pumpkins, they grow cornstalks for bundles and in the last three years have started growing mums. They sell their fall décor at their market, but they also sell wholesale to 40 farm markets and garden centers in the Cleveland area.

In between farm work, Will & Carl also own and operate an excavating business, Schlechter Construction Service, Inc.
